HV = High Voltage: It stands for a revolutionary concept applied to a new High End electronic line, created to cater for the demanding audiophile lover of two-channel reproduction of the highest possible quality. An incredibly sophisticated design concept built using solid aluminium sets out the platform for the truly outstanding features of the HV series. The scale of the development and workmanship on which these machines are based is unprecedented.
PA 3000 HV
The PA 3000 HV is an audiophile High-End integrated amplifier packed full of unique, newly developed technological features. The measured values, specifications and power generated by this machine represent the limit of what is physically possible. The components and materials employed are of first-class quality, without compromise, and the workmanship of the case sets new standards unequalled even by far more expensive equipment.
The MP 3000 HV incorporates further refinements of T+A’s most renowned components, developed without compromise. It is one of the finest and most refined players they have every built and features complete symmetry of channel separation in its construction. At its core is the new quadruple digital-to-analogue converter, whose origins can be traced back to the High-End V-series and R-series CD-SACD players. It processes the signals from the jitter reduction stage, whose own design philosophy is totally unique, and receives data from the high-quality pushrod-operated CD mechanism.
The PDP 3000 HV is the latest player in the HV series and has been developed specifically to reproduce high-resolution audio data without any trace of compromise. For this reason the unit has been equipped with a uniquely superior disc mechanism which reads CD and SACD media perfectly and transfers the data to its superb PCM and DSD converters. Since this unique converter concept is ideal for use with external sources, they have also designed the PDP 3000 HV to operate as a DAC, featuring seven digital inputs!
The P 3000 HV is the audiophile High-End pre-amplifier of the series and represents the universal control centre for the individual new HV machines. It is equipped with unique, newly developed technologies and innovative circuit designs. Its measured results, specification and sound quality represent the limit of what is physically feasible. The components and materials employed are uniformly of top quality, without any hint of compromise and the workmanship of the case sets standards, unmatched even by far more expensive products.
The A 3000 HV is the ideal power amplifier and complement to the P 3000 HV pre-amplifier. It is designed as a stereo power amplifier, but can also be configured to work in mono mode. In which guise it is capable of delivering twice the current - which it then doubles in to pure Class-A mode. Thanks to HV technology, this powerhouse offers superb sound characteristics as well as incredible power and performance: a standard which is unsurpassed even by far more expensive amplifiers.
The PS 3000 HV is a supplementary mains unit which was developed specifically for the A 3000 HV power amplifier. The A 3000 HV delivers more than 500 Watts of power into 4 Ohms, and as such a high level of sound quality and performance is achieved. It was discovered that simply increasing the output power of an amplifier - and with it the voltage - produced no significant improvement in sound quality but improvement of the overall power-supply feeding the power-amplifier garnered far greater results.
The R-series is T+A’s oldest and most important product group. First presented in the year 1992, the system’s technology, operating philosophy and appearance were immediately convincing in every respect. With this range they were determined to introduce revisions only when genuine improvements were possible. With this in mind the new R-series is a completely new development and for this reason the models bear an all new title: 2000 R for the low-profile cases, and 2500 R for the taller version. At present the series consists of the PA 2000 R integrated amplifier, the larger PA 2500 R integrated amplifier, MP 2000 R multi-source player and finally the G 2000 R turntable.
Building neat compact integrated amplifiers, offering high output power and superb sound quality is an art at which T+A has no peer. As proof of this claim we present the PA 2000 R integrated amplifier. It is incredibly dynamic, powerful and incisive. There are two reasons behind these characteristics: the extremely linear output stages with very low negative feedback, which are a completely new development, and the new form of mains power supply employed.
Twice as tall, higher output power and even more connection facilities – the PA 2500 R exceeds the specification of the PA 2000 R in many areas but its character , in terms of sound quality, is in no way inferior to its smaller sibling. The reason we say this is that often, in the quest for more power, the subtle musical nuance that makes music so alluring, can be so easily lost.
The MP 2000 R is a genuine musical multi-talent. At first glance the casual observer may think it is just a classic CD player, but its true capabilities extend far beyond this. At its heart lies one of the world’s latest and most sophisticated digital – analogue converters (DAC). This converts PCM signals up to 384 kSps with the help of the quadruple converter – another in-house development – and even DSD files up to DSD 256. The MP 2000 R is therefore able to exploit every digital music format in order to deliver music to the amplifier in the highest possible quality. This multi-source player houses a first-class CD mechanism, a high-performance digital tuner offering FM, FM-HD and DAB+ reproduction, as well as a high-quality Bluetooth streaming module for receiving music from mobile devices. Then, to finish off this swiss army knife product, it includes a streaming client with Internet radio for connection to the home network via LAN and WLAN, USB Master Mode and HD streaming, plus a digital connecting board with inputs for external sources (two USB device modes and four HD-S/P-DIF).
Contrary to all the predictions, vinyl has managed to sustain and even consolidate its right to exist over a period of several decades. Back in the 1990’s, when the medium was almost completely swamped by the CD, there were many who lamented its lost qualities; especially the almost tactile sound, with its subjectively warmer nature. In comparison with the CD there is no doubt that vinyl is impractical and space-consuming, but precisely for this reason it had something which the new media lacked: a distinctive character. The old R-series G 1260 R turntable was a very successful design. True to the heritage, T+A have carried out further development work on this product and have introduced a number of improvements. The unit now joins the new R-series as a means of reproducing high-quality analogue sound media capable of setting standards with its sound quality and its unique design features.
The E-series represents a further important step in the audiophile revolution. Many High-End enthusiasts consider MP3 and other compressed-data music formats to be unacceptable. Although this point of view is understandable when we speak of absolute High End, it is still a matter of regret to the burgeoning users of these media. Our response to this situation has been to develop equipment capable of exploiting the enormous potential of these media in a better and more consistent manner, so that they can be integrated into a High-End system.
This all-purpose device contains the genes of the superlative PA 1000 E and MP 1000 E separate devices. It is equipped with the very latest technologies and components, and certainly ranks as one of the most modern and innovative receivers available anywhere in the world. It combines classic analogue technology for the amplifier section with the latest digital circuit design for the internal sources. It also features a large number of extremely high-quality inputs for external analogue and digital sources, making it the perfect universal nerve centre of a really modern, high-quality stereo system. It can cope with almost anything: you can connect a turntable (optional phono modules are available) or improve the sound of your television; connect a set-top box using an optical lead, or even stream music from a PC - there are no limits!
Like the MP1000E, the R 1000 E can access everything which delivers music: CD, FM, FM-HD and DAB+ radio; Internet radio with Airable Internet Radio Service; UPnP network music servers; USB memory media; laptops and PCs, music services and mobile devices with Bluetooth!
MP1000E - Media Player
This is a unique device reflecting an ingenious design philosophy, as it combines the classic music source of CD with the ability to play digital music formats from a vast range of sources! Please note: the MP 1000 E is NOT a computer; it is a first-class audiophile CD player incorporating supplementary functions designed to enable other internal and external digital sources to exploit its outstanding converter. With this aim in mind we developed a mainboard which can process five different digital sources at superb quality and devoid of jitter; a new Streaming Client (SCL), which is a network-enabled processor board featuring WLAN, LAN and USB interfaces; a high-quality digital tuner; a High-End CD mechanism and a Digital Connecting Board fitted with five high-quality digital SP/DIF inputs, a computer USB input and an aptX® Bluetooth module.
PA1000E - Integrated Amplified
The core of the E-series is the PA 1000 E: an integrated amplifier bursting with power and superb sound. The unit was developed from the legendary Power Plant, whose outstanding sound we succeeded in improving further. The pre-amplifier is a crucial element in determining the sonic characteristics of the amplifier as a whole, and for this reason our development aim was absolute neutrality, superb musical fidelity and outstanding dynamic characteristics.
Over the last few years T+A have exploited their long experience and profound knowledge of digital signal processing in the development of fully-featured disc and multi-source players. However, the DAC 8 is a device designed to operate purely as a converter and achieves its fantastic performance through the use of the very finest technologies and uncompromising design. The DAC 8 is a D/A converter of very high quality built using first-class components. The magazine reviews have been overwhelmingly superb. In reality it only lacks one factor to form a complete High-End system - a power amplifier of similar excellence...
The overall circuit design of the AMP 8 is based on the sensational PA 3000 HV integrated amplifier, which is why the input stage and the voltage amplifier stage operate at much higher voltage potentials (HV - High Voltage concept). Constructed entirely of aluminium: the base plate and top cover are machined from solid 6 mm thick aluminium plates, while the side and front panels consist of aluminium profiles produced using sophisticated extruding tools. This means that the device contains no ferro-magnetic materials of any description, as this could generate interference. The AMP 8 sounds sensational: vigorous, dynamic, high-resolution yet delicate, subtle and audiophile. The combination of DAC 8 and AMP 8 sets new standards far beyond its price class!
The CALA D is a further development of the fantastic & classic CALA. It was, and still is, the ideal solution for any music enthusiast who demands high-quality sound from their stereo system but also appreciates sophisticated design, perfect craftsmanship and compactness. The case is made of solid aluminium, and is produced in a single process using a complex extruding tool. It is then blasted with fine glass beads before being anodised. The internal chassis, on which all the electronic circuitry is mounted, is also made of aluminium, while the front panel and top cover consist of high-gloss acrylic.
Although the CALA D looks small, it is enormously capable and tremendously versatile. Two output stages with a continuous power of 55 Watts effortlessly drive any normal loudspeaker, and an active sub-woofer can also be connected if you prefer to use small speakers such as the matching CS Mini. The Cala D provides access to all modern music sources.
Like its predecessor, the basic concept of the Caruso Blu is that of a complete stereo system with superb sound, whilst remaining as small and compact as possible. External changes are restrained in nature, and the new unit looks even more elegant and exclusive. In contrast, the internal design is a completely new and now features the very latest components and technologies.
The machine plays all these sources with outstanding quality through its five integral loudspeaker units. Three power amplifiers, each generating 50 Watts of continuous power, are coupled directly to the speaker drive units, while the active crossover unit (active loudspeaker principle) ensures that the signals reaching the speakers are precisely defined.
T+A’s first products were actually loudspeakers! They still offer a substantial and diverse range of high performance, stunning value for money products in this sector, please find the link to the complete loudspeaker line-up here : http://www.ta-hifi.de/index.php?id=5&L=1
Currently at Kog Audio we primarily focus on the Criterion range (in particular two models – The TCD 315 and TCD 210) and the new Pulsar range.
Traditionally the CRITERION name has always been a byword for high-performance loudspeakers, which sound extraordinarily good. Since 1982 this series has offered everything the heart could desire, both to the audiophile two-channel fans and lovers of large home cinema installations. All the models share the same qualities of timeless design and peerless craftsmanship - even in the smallest detail – and of course excellent sound quality. From their first series, which proved the superiority of the overall design philosophy in terms of damping and peak-handling ability, they have gradually honed their speakers ever closer to perfection.
The new TCD series remains faithful to this claim and once again lays down new standards in craftsmanship and sound quality, combined with an impressively refined appearance. The cabinets are designed to be devoid of resonance and feature the highest-quality veneers - with an optional lacquer finish and high-gloss covers made of black safety glass - producing a perfect overall result to match their very special sound experience. The new TCD line is further evidence that T+A, when and where possible, will always look to excel and exceed what is possible – why have ordinary when you can have extraordinary?
The Criterion range features a stand/shelf mount speaker and four floor-standers, with a single centre speaker and subwoofer to set the foundation as well as compliment any multi-channel installation.
The speaker range can be made available in the following range of finishes: Rubbed lacquer white/black, High gloss white/black, Dark walnut, Cherry stain, Macassar ebony, High gloss Dark walnut, Cherry, Macassar ebony, High gloss Carbon and Arctic silver.
With a height of just 85 cm, the TCD 315 S is the smallest and slimmest floor-standing speaker in the TCD series. Its construction is very similar to that of the other floor-standing speakers; the speaker is fitted with the same mid-range and treble drivers as the TCD 310, while the bass units are simply a little smaller. In spite of its small stature, the TCD 315 S constitutes another fully mature speaker with a very long transmission line, which is folded several times within the cabinet. The two 15 cm bass units with low natural resonance are matched accurately to the transmission line and their extremely hard, embossed carbon cones generate very low accurate bass, even at high pressure.
The TCD 210 S is a no-compromise floor-standing transmission-line speaker fitted with a very long transmission line. Two massive 22 cm bass units with low natural resonance are accurately tuned on this line and their extremely hard, embossed cones generate unbelievably low, accurate bass at very high pressure. The same drive units are also employed in their High-End SOLITAIRE® CWT 500 speaker! The pair of 17 cm mid-range units and the Waveguide dome-tweeter form an acoustic unit which is designated CD = Constant Directivity. The mid-range units are a truly ingenious design which effortlessly cover the full vocal range from 200 to 2000 Hz and their dynamic lively nature create an amazingly natural sound.
Pulsar loudspeakers with their curved cabinets and high-gloss lacquered surfaces are the perfect match for any modern living room. Superb craftsmanship right down to the finest detail, modern design combined with outstanding acoustic qualities – these are the defining characteristics of this series.
The Pulsar ST 20 is an extremely slim, compact floor standing loudspeaker which combines outstanding acoustic qualities with sleek appearance. It is a new design which we have developed from the ground up, and which features the very latest high-performance drivers, as this was the only way our development engineers were able to fulfil the design brief for this new range of speakers. Although their cabinets are small in size, we required the new Pulsars to have the ability to radiate low bass cleanly and at high pressure, at the same time reproducing an open, uncoloured treble / mid-range with great vitality. These are the reasons behind our decision to adopt a complex three-way system, based on two long-throw bass units, a wide band mid-range and a High-End dome tweeter. All speaker cones are produced from aluminium of various thicknesses using specially calculated embossing tools, ensuring that they are very stiff and strong, but still light in weight. The drive unit magnets are extremely powerful, while the magnet and suspension systems are of highly sophisticated design, and made from the finest materials available. As a result these High-End drivers are capable of generating tremendous levels as well as being amazingly dynamic and fast. A precisely calculated cross-over unit consisting of low-loss components guarantees that all the drivers are fed the perfect signal in the optimum working range for excellent radiation characteristics. The crossovers have separate grounds for bass and midhigh range, making the speakers ideal for bi-wiring arrangements.
The Pulsar R 20 is a compact bookshelf speaker, incorporating technology derived from the ST 20 floor stander. The refined cabinet is beautifully built, with the same curved shape and rigid design. All surfaces are rubbed down in a multi-stage process before the high-gloss lacquer is applied. The finish is of superb quality! The High-Tech treble unit with its special 25 mm dome is a completely new development, and is the same driver employed in the ST 20. The 150 mm long-throw bass unit, on the other hand, is a modified version, because the R 20 is a classic two-way design, and this driver therefore also has to reproduce the mid-range. In spite of the R 20’s relatively small cabinet, its bass is tremendously impressive, and the speaker offers a lively, very natural sonic image. The R 20 sounds much “bigger” than it actually is! An important design feature of the new Pulsar speakers is the totally smooth baffle, devoid of corners or edges: there is no hint of a screw or recess which could disturb the sound dispersion or generate reflections. The driver chassis are covered by accurately shaped pressure-cast aluminium rings which lie perfectly flush with the baffle. This impressive sophistication enables the sound to disperse perfectly, and the sonic image is completely detached from the loudspeaker. The result is incredibly precise and spacious reproduction with totally accurate source positioning.
The starting point for every new T+A device is the design of the mechanical components and the case. For this process T+A exploit the latest CAD systems. At this stage, factors which are very important to T+A, are to have a distinctively simple design, perfect functionality, compactness and top-notch craftsmanship. Wherever possible they prefer to use metal: both for technical reasons - such as physical strength and shielding efficiency but also for environmental reasons. Up to 90%, or more, of the materials in T+A products can be recycled. The equipment speaks for itself - unique, unmistakable and offering uniformly high performance.
From the initial idea for a new circuit right through to its implementation as a finished circuit board, T+A are capable of carrying out every step, and work with great dedication and a spirit of innovation. The ambition is pure and simple, quality! This is why no restrictions of any kind are put in the way, when developing the products.
