The Russell K loudspeakers were born from the team's culmination of over 50 years combined experience in the field of audio engineering.

With Russell Kaufman, the designer & guiding light of the project at the helm, the master plan was  simply to make affordable products that excel in the reproduction of a musically convincing sound, what ever the genre!

To reach this goal required some serious innovation of drive unit design, new thinking on sympathetic enclosures and careful optimisation of both the crossover and the components employed.

Your first listen to a Russell K should tell you that they have been successful.

The Red 50 is the smallest in the Russell K range but what it gives up in size it makes up for by being blessed with huge musical heart.

It offers low colouration while exhibiting superb stereo imaging, timing and real energy to the overall musical picture.

While the Red 50 may be the smallest of the Russell K speakers it was not the first to leave the design studio, that honour goes to the Red 100.

The newest speaker in the Russell K range, and one that is already proving universally popular, the Red 120 features huge performance in a very compact cabinet. 

Ease of installation was a strong design consideration with a cabinet depth of only 19cm and front port means the Red 120 does not dominate the living space.

Sound quality is typical of Russell-K fast, natural, deep controlled bass and spot on timing.

CABINET AGILITY
Our own research has found that a heavily damped thin wall cabinet works well for the midrange but too much cabinet flex softens the bass response. Our solution is to keep the cabinet walls thin and to use internal bracing shelves to control cabinet flex. The Red series' light but stiff cabinet vibrates when the drive units are playing but stops when the drive units stop, ensuring near-perfect sound reproduction.

DRIVE UNIT LOADING
Innovations in drive unit loading deliver the truest bass response.

Take the Red 100 - this features a 'misaligned' bass reflex with an additional mechanical bass loading and damping system. The result is a drastic reduction of midrange standing waves and almost no midrange energy making its way out of the port tube. The very low port tuning of 35Hz produces a bass that is extraordinarily tight and extended. This ensures bass is now reproduced with accurate pitch and timing, rather than a one-note noise.

NO INTERNAL DAMPING
With no damping, the cabinet moves in time with the main drive unit for superbly accurate sound reproduction.

Damping slows down the internal soundwave, making it out of sync with the output of the driver. With the Red series we’ve removed the damping, thus allowing the cabinet to breathe in time with the main drive unit ensuring freedom from time-smear and cabinet distortions.

CROSSOVER
The finely tuned crossover produces the perfect balance of sound.

At Russell K, we’ve conducted thousands of hours of research into the effect that different crossover types have on the sound. We’ve spent countless hours fine-tuning the crossover, adjusting the components, voicing and testing different types of music on various electronics. This lengthy process ensures our speakers sound just like the real thing.

All drivers are connected in positive phase, and have only one component in series, thus preserving maximum signal information and coherence.
